the cow-symbol of purity

In India, the cow has traditionally been considered as a symbol of motherhood.Right from ancient times, the cow has been an integral part of Indian culture.
Vashishtha, one of the ancient Rishis posessed a cow,Kamdhenu, who was considered with magical powers.Once Vishwamitra, another Rishi, came to meet Vashishtha unannnounced with a large number of disciples and insisted on being fged along with his disciples.Vashishtha prayed to Kamadhenu, and lo and behold, a wide variety of tasty dishes appeared from her mouth to feed everybody present.Vishwamitra wanted to covet the cow and directed the followers to forcibly take the cow.
At Vashishtha's request, the cow produced a large army to defend herself and Vishwamitra was forced to return empthy handed.
Cow milk is considered to be good for infants and invalids.Cow manure is also used as fuel and manure for the farms.
