The 1983 world cup final at Lords is the saga of triumph of the team spirit and is written in letters of gold!Perseverance,determination,faith and leadership on the part of a few individuals can raise the hopes of an entire people.India,led by Kapil Dev had started as underdogs and England and West Indies were the favourites to win.After a few lucky breaks India managed to reach the finals against the formidable W.Indian team which had such veterans as Lloyd,Richards,Greenidge,Marshall and Roberts.
India were bundled out for a paltry 183 bruns unable to cope with the fiery pace of Roberts,Holdings and Marshall.The W.Indians were jubiliant and sure of victory.Runs were coming at a brisk pace and it was only a matter of time before the target would be reached.
