The Human Situation

Humanity is at cross road today. The choice is between survival and self-destruction. The present civilisation has become too complex and cumbersome for the human mind to cope with. On the one hand there is an ardent seeking for the Truth and alternative solutions to the problems facing mankind and on the other hand phenomenon like poverty, global warming, religious fundamentalism, corruption, wars, famines etc are reaching epic proportions. Human liberty, freedom of expression, right to live with dignity, freedom from oppression and the basic human rights of equality, safety and education are under threat as never before in human history.  A paradigm shift is required in the mind-set of the modern mentality. It is still not clear whether humanity will waken up to the terrible crisis facing the world and take remedial steps in time or whether a catastrophe will destroy the present civilisation. In this context I would like to suggest the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother who had foreseen the present crisis and suggested that the only solution to the various problems facing mankind was to manifest the latent divinity inherent in man.
