Compassion

Today is Christmas! Jesus came to this world to spread the message of universal brotherhood, love and compassion to mankind. His teachings are as relevant today as they were 2000 years ago. What is required today is the revival of his message in spirit and sincerity.
His parting words," Forgive them O Lord for they know not what they doeth" show his limitless compassion for man. Forgiveness and tolerance were the essence of his teachings. I am not sure that man has become more tolerant than his ancestors. We still kill our brothers and sisters in the name of religion. Even innocent children are not spared!
Technology and particularly the Internet has made it possible today for people to communicate and interact with each other in a more effective way. The world has truly become a Global village. Unfortunately our mindsets are still primitive and barbaric.
This is truly the time to be heroic and take a leap into the unknown!www.searchforlight.org

2013

Another year has gone by! An year of wasted opportunities and valuable resources. The real problems which plague the world remain unresolved- poverty, hunger, malnutrition, disease, illiteracy, unemployment, women's empowerment and human unity.

The worlds leaders are too preoccupied with petty issues to tackle the complex issues facing mankind. Will this civilisation also end as a failure like the earlier ones or will humanity rise to the occasion and grow to a higher, nobler, beautiful, harmonious and a truer life? What is needed is a paradigm shift!

We have the technology, the resources and the capability to resolve the problems facing mankind within a short time-span. What is lacking is the willingness and the sincerity to identify the issues and come to terms with them.

Any further postponement to come to grips with the real issues will only spell a crisis-moral,spiritual,economic,environmental and ecological. It could even lead to a catastrophe the likes of which would be unimaginable.

Will 2013 be the year of change?

The Role of Women

At this crucial juncture in human history, the role of women is vital. Women comprise 50% of the world's population and their voice in decision making is very important.
Women are catalysts of change and can make a difference-for the better or for the worse. Motherhood empowers them with certain qualities which are denied to men. The language of a woman is love. It is she who creates a loving and secure environment for a child to grow in. Sensitivity, compassion, sharing, discipline, sincerity and a holistic attitude to life are the virtues of a woman. It is not a coincidence that women are at the forefront of all social movements in the world.
No country in the world can progress unless it empowers its women and treats them with respect and dignity.God has given the power of organisation to women.According to Indian mythology women are the incarnations of power or Shakti..
In the modern world women are occupying important decision making positions in every country and making vital choices. They are challenging old ways and trying to introduce innovation and progress in society.
As women in developing countries are educated they will be able to more amd more for the development of society.Unfortunately women in most countries are economically weaker and have to depend on men for their sustainance. But the situation is changing and with time they will be in a better bargaining position.
The modern world has become very violent, unequal, polluted, power and wealth dominated and devoid of spiritual values. It is upto the women of the world to decide whether they want status-quo or change.

Role of India

India holds the answers perplexing humanity today. Its ancient culture can show the world the way to a harmonious, peaceful and a multi-cultural world. India can lead the way to a more equitable world order. India is the symbolic representation of the problems facing the world, it will be the land of their resurrection. The  social, cultural and political future of the world depends on India.
If India is to fulfill its destiny it has to have peaceful and cordial relations with all its neighbours. India being the largest in the sub-continent will have to be more accomodating and flexible about the concerns of its neighbours. The Indian subcontinent is home to many religions, languages, cultures and attitudes. All the different countries should try to focus on elimination of economic disparities, providing education, empowering its women, stop terrorism and show the way to a happy and secure future for its people.
India should lead the way in spreading its culture, music, art, literature and history to all the countries of the world and invite the same from them.If there is exchange of cultures between all countries it will ensure a more understanding and tolerant world. Dialogue and dissent are the signs of a healthy and mature democracy.
If the Indian elite recognises its God given destiny, we can become a beacon of knowledge and light for the whole world to look upto.

Spirituality

What does it profit a man if he gaineth the whole world yet suffers the loss of his own soul Where from? The Bible. This is relevant as never before. Man has lost sight of his moral compass which can show the way to a peaceful and contented life.Unless humanity abandons its pursuit of materialism and commercialism it is doomed to end in a catastrophe which could destroy this civilisation.

Man should start looking for spiritual solutions to the problems facing it. Even Modern science is reaching conclusions which are closer to the perception of reality reached by Eastern spirituality.

People all over the world are turning to Eastern spirituality because they have realised the futility of the present way of life.

Spirituality holds the key to counteract the dark forces represented by the collusion of military power, power hungry politicians, media barons, religious fundamentalism and terrorism.

There is a desperate need for spiritual leaders like Dalai Lama and others to come together on a common platform and show the way to mankind to abandon its present course and look for its soul.

India has the power to change the present social.cultural and political state of the world. For that to happen India must search for its soul and find the necessary solutions to manifest it. Scriptures like the Bhagwad Gita should be so interpreted to make it relevant to modern day realities.

I believe there is a consciousness at work in the world to transform the world from its dark state to a more enlightened form. It is upto humanity to either collaborate or oppose it.

As Margaret Mead has written " Never doubt that a group of thoughtful committed people can change the world. Indeed that is the only thing that ever has".
