The Golconda fort is symbolic of romance, splendour and art! It was constructed by Quli Qutub Shah at the behest of his beautiful wife Bhagmati.
Bhagmati was an extremely talented dancer and a keen patron of the fine arts.Under her supervision many forts and palaces were constructed around Hyderabad.
During Qutub Shah's rule, the Bahmani Empire was at its pwak in terms of wealth, harmony and power. The famous Kohinoor diamond was bought by him for Bhagmati.
Hyderabad was a meeting point of the Central Asian and Eastern cultures and traders from all over Asia would come to trade in pearls, textiles, horses and spices.Scholars from Portugal and China also visited India regularly.
Qutub Shah also encouraged dancers, musicians and artsts from all over India to exhibit their talents.
Hyderabad was a symbol of India's spirit till recent times and perhaps one of the finest cities in the world!
