The word proportion is missing in the discourse today!
Without a 'sense of proportion' the best recipes can be ruined.Incongruities can be good for mathematics but disastrous for life.Without food,clothing,shelter,jobs,relationships and education, a person can only spell trouble.
A good community always strives for proportion in everything.Excesses cause disease,crime and discord for everybody.To imagine that there can be a single formula for happiness is to invite conflict.
A reasonable amount of comfort along with the necessities makes a person strong,disciplined and useful to a community and a person given to excesses makes a mess of evrything.
Communities which give excessive importance to material comforts ultimately weaken and are taken over by fanatics and uncivilized armies while communities which value relationships,culture and discipline prevail.
