krishna and sudama

Krishna and Sudama were childhood friends and had spent their childhood together.Due to unavoidable circumstances, they go different ways-one becomes the king of Dwarka and the other has to live a life of poverty and desperation.
To end their famil's misery,Sudama's wife asks Sudama to go to Krishna and seek his help.Sudama hesitatingly agrees to go to Dwarka to meet his friend.Upon reaching Krishna's palace in Dwarka,Sudama requests the guards to allow him to meet Krishna. While he is waiting at the gate Krishna comes to meet his friend and respectfully takes him inside. He enquires about his well-being and requests him to relax and be comfortable.Krishna himself washes his friend's aching feet.Krishna jokingly asks Sudama what he has got for him and Sudama shyly takes out  a packet of parched rice cooked by his wife and gives it to Krishna.Krishna enjoys the meal and assures Sudama of all the necessary help.
This tale from the Mahabharata tells us that friendship knows no distinctions of colour, language, religion or race.
