Iran-change

Today Iran goes to the polls to elect its President! For the past several decades since the overthrow of the Monarchy Iran has increasingly been isolating itself from the mainstream of the world. It has imposed severe restrictions on civil liberties of its citizens in the name of Islam. Bahaais,Ahmedis and other minorities are being persecuted In its foreign policy it has become rabidly anti-West and anti-Israel. Instead of trying to resolve the Syrian conflict,it is adding fuel to the fire by helping the rebels with weapons.
The people are fed up because of the economic down slide, unemployment and high inflation. The severe sanctions imposed by the West is also taking its toll since even many life-saving drugs are not available.
Iran has to change its policies and shift towards democracy, freedom, tolerance, transparency and openness.
Iran has a great civilizational value for the world. It was one of the cradles of civilization in the world. It has historical cultural links with Asia,Middle-East and Africa. It has an important role to play in the world.
