The spirit of Kemal Pasha is at work again! The Turkish Revolution initiated by Kemal Pasha in the 40's is again being revived by the youth! These are times of transition all over the world and Turkey is no exception.Tunisia,Egypt,Syria,Libya and now Turkey are all challenging the dictators and juntas and demanding freedom and self-determination! The Western powers which have for long been supporting unpopular governments in the Middle-East will be well-advised not to interfere in Turkey.
Turkey has a long tradition of progressive,secular and democratic culture. It was able to achieve rapid economic growth at the cost of freedom and democracy. But with the global slow-down, the war-situation in the Middle-East and consequent influx of refugees from Syria, the economy is under tremendous strain leading to the present uprising.
Given enlightened leadership the present crisis could become an opportunity for change!
