Maharana Pratap, the ruler of Mewar, was the stuff legends are made of! His valiant struggle against the mightiest of Mughals Akbar depicts one of the glorious chapters of Indian history. Heavily outnumbered in man-power,resources and weapons,he succeeded in keeping the mighty Mughals at bay for 10 long years. Even though all the other Rajput rulers had merged their kingdoms with the Mughal Empire,Rana Pratap refused to submit to Akbar's dictat. The Battle of Haldighati where the two armies met in a do or die battle is a classic example of the Greek myth of David and Goliath. The battle ended with the tactical withdrawal by Akbar.
The Rajputs were the greatest warriors of their time but due to infighting between the different clans, they could not take on the Mughals and preferred to be their Generals instead.
