the village market

It used to be a tradition in Europe and Asia to sell rural produce locally by displaying their products in the open, once a week.
This was an economical and employment generating arrangement.Food products, quality garments, utensils, furniture articles, bullock carts and children' toys were put on sale every sunday and everybody would flock to the market to buy their weekly needs. This arrangement not only encouraged enterprise but also instilled a sense of community among the villagers. In Europe,a carnival used to be held periodically in every village where artistes and entertainers would perform for children.Merry go-rounds and horse rides were a common feature.
The industrial age has resulted in the destruction of the tranquillity and unity of the village life and forced the rural populace to migrate to cities and towns in search of livelihood.
