The Armed forces are the backbone of the nation.Unless they are disciplined and purposeful,the unity and integrity of the country can be in jeopardy.The jawans look upto their commanders for inspiration and leadership.the morale of the forces is at a low ebb because of the nexus between the Generals and the politicians.Promotions are based on proximity to the right people rather than merit.Competent officers are opting for premature retirement rather than curry favours.All the outcry about pensions and higher remuneration are indicative of a serious malaise within the armed forces.
The AFSPA is a blot on the national conscience and has to be struck down.It is a part of the Armed forces training to help the populace in distress and not to govern.
