The Hindu has published a story today saying that every 30 mts a farmer commits suicide in India! This is indeed a shocking state of affairs. The responsibility for this deep seated malaise lies mainly on the Planning Commission. The members of the PC are mainly academics with little knowledge of the ground realities.
In my opinion the PC has mismanaged the nation's resources right from Independence. It was set up at Nehru's instance on the lines of the Soviet model of developement

. It has failed miserably in meeting its stated objectives and must be scrapped. The CBI should conduct an investigation into the functioning of the PC and file cases against its members for squandering national resources,corruption,fraud,cheating and misdemeanor.
The blood of millions of starving and poor Indians lies on the hands of the PC!
