swaraj-self determination

India attained independence in 1947 but even after 66 years we are far from attaining Swaraj-self determination. Due to faulty policies of the Government there has been concentration of power in a few hands. A few persons sitting in Delhi in air-conditioned offices who are blissfully ignorant of grass-root realities determine the destiny of India. This has resulted in total neglect of irrigation, agriculture, education, poverty, health, infrastructure and women's issues, which are the real priorities.
The Planning Commission which was constituted on the lines of the Soviet model of development has failed miserably in attaining its objectives and should be disbanded. It is impossible to address the problems of a huge country like India with its diversities of language, religion, culture and needs by a unitary form of government.
Real development will happen only when the people living in the villages of India will be able to determine their own destiny!
