efficacy of laws-the big debate

"The letter killeth, the spirit saveth" The Gospels

Hundreds of laws are framed every day but social relations have only worsened resulting in family discord, increase in crime and violence, growing disparities in wealth and abuse of authority by the state.
Thre is ample evidence to indicate that societies having less laws have a higher quality of life.Scandinavia,Bhutan and several other small countries which enact few laws but rely more on social sanctions are far more stable and prosperous than over-regulted countries elsewhere.
In India, laws framed for women-empowerment and benefit of other marginalised groups have in fact aggravated tensions and violence.
Through proper dissemination of information, building a consensus and leading by example,a harmonious, transparent and progressive culture can be created everywhere.
