the art of speaking

'The world is deafened by useless words." The Mother

Many misunderstandings can be avoided by exercising restraint on speech.A wrong impression has been created that to suceed, one has to be talkative. All the good in the world is due to people who hardly speak. They are so pre-occupied with the task in hand, that they have no time for frivolities.
The ancient Rishis used to be so occupied in grappling with universal forces that they kept to themselves. But when they spoke, the heavens trembled and the Gods had to rush to them.
A truly strong man never uses harsh words. His words are always gentle and soothing and intended to create peace and harmony everywhere.
The lower a person is on the evolutionary ladder, the more hespeaks, because he has no control over his faculties.
Men like Tilak and Sri Aurobindo who were the pioneers of the Indian freedom struggle were no demagogues but their mere presence used to silence huge crowds, such was the admiration and respect they commanded.
To rouse passions is easy but nation-building is the task of a life time and requires tremendous sacrifice, discipline, determination and hard labour.
