Jeeves is a 'butler' created by PG Wodehouse alias Plum.Plum was born in Victorian England and was extremely proud of his English roots.Like his contemporaries he had strong convictions about Right and Wrong.He firmly believed that without a sense of humour,the British would loose their unique cultural identity and would soon become clones of any expedient culture.
Jeeves is of the old school-intelligent,well-informed,disciplined and extremely loyal to his employer Bertie.Bertie is an innocent,well meaning and happy go lucky member of the landed gentry.Having an assured income and a large house with all amenities,he has nothing better to do except drink,party and engage in dalliances with pretty girls.Many girls try to hook Bertie for his money but Jeeves always manages to save his ward from trouble.
Plum was wrongly accused of being a nazi sympathiser during the war and had to suspend his writings for a while but emerged unscathed from the ordeal.
