babasaheb ambedkar

Bharatratna Bhimrao Ambedkar- chief architect of The Indian Constitution! His greatest contribution to Indian society has been his role in uplifting the status of the SCs& STs who constitute 25% of our population. If Mayavati can today aspire to become the PM of India,it is because of Babasaheb Ambedkar! Babasaheb, himself a Mahar, had to face the discrimination suffered by his community. As a child, he had to face tremendous opposition for receiving education, segregation and economic hardship. He was denied drinking water in school unless there was a person from his community to give it to him. Babasaheb overcame all the hardships and excelled in school and higher studies in India& abroad.
From a young age Babasaheb strove tirelessly to uplift the masses. He considered the caste system a blot on civilization and fearlessly took up cudgels against the orthodox Hindus. His differences with Gandhi pitted him against the Congress and led to his founding the RPI.
He exhorted his followers to give up their inferiority complex and make every possible attempt to join the mainstream. He embraced Buddhism because the Hindu society refused to accommodate the downtrodden and the dalits.
As the first law minister of independent India, he introduced reservation in public employment for SCs& STs. The Indian Constitution is the greatest tribute to Babasaheb! Inspired by the French and the Russian revolutions, Babasaheb strongly believed that Liberty,Equality,Fraternity and Justice were perfectly attainable ideals in a democratic society!
