an agrarian crisis

Food Banks in London, growing farmers suicides in India and elsewhere, crisis in Russia, enormous losses in livestock, crops and declining land yield due to abnormal weather conditions-a global agrarian crisis in the making!
The global population has crossed the 7 billion mark and is still growing at an alarming rate.In 2012,according to UN statatistics, there were approx. 500 million people suffering from malnutrition and starvation. In India 30 million people go to bed hungry every night.Nearly 5 million children below the age of 5 die every year due to hunger.Unless agricultural growth is put high on the global agenda, there could soon be food riots everywhere.
Instead of celebrating Yoga Day,the UN should show more concern for issues concerning common people by celebrating Food Security Day.If all our International organisations are going to become elitist, there will be little chance of serious matters being discussed anywhere.Only a catastrophe will wake the world from its stupour!
