mind your language

"A single word lets loose vast agencies".Sri Aurobindo
The 'word' has tremendous power to create as well as to destroy.Much of the confusion and misunderstandings in the world are due to use of inappropriate language. The frequent use of words like money, percentage, taxes, politics, technology, profit, stocks, sex, violence, terrorist, government and religion in day to day conversation as well as in the media is turning the world into a horror movie.
If one goes through the ancient Indian and Greek epics, the writings of Kalidasa,Shakespeare,Milton,Joyce,Keats,Shelley,Voltaire,Danton or Vinci, one can immediately feel the rejuvenating effect of language. The ancient languages like Greek,Latin,Sanskrit and Hebrew were highly intuitive and spiritual while the modern languages have become mercenary and devoid of substance.
A careful screening of all modern languages has to be done by linguists and academicians and obnoxious words removed from the vocabulary. If children are encouraged to read the writings of children story writers like Enid Blyton,Jonathan Swift,Daniel Defoe,Charles Dickens,Mark Twain as well as The Panchatantra,it can improve their language skills enormously as well as give them a cosmoplitan outlook
Today,English is the only international language, understood by the largest number of people in the world.Hence the need to encourage the spread of English across the world.Words from French,Sanskrit,Persian,Russian and Japanese can be added to English to give it an universal appeal.
