In the Ramayan,Surupnakha is the sister of Ravana,the demon king and she is sent by Ravana to seduce the Rishis and rama and Laxman.She is an enchantress who speaks in a melodious voice and is always dressed in expensive finery and lots of jewellery.She is also capable of varying her form and size to entice the noble men.
While Rama is protecting the Rishis doing penace in Dandakaranya forest,Ravana sends Surupnakha to tempt Rama and Laxman into marrying her.She first approaches Rama who promptly refuses her telling her that he is already married to Sita.She next approaches Laxman and tries to seduce him but he gets enraged watching her coquettish behaviour and cuts off her nose and ears with his sword.She rushes crying and screaming to Ravana and asks him to take revenge for her humiliation.
In the present times,the so called educated women are all Surupnakhas who have been trained by the Asuras to destroy the 'Dharma'.
