paying homage

Where The Mind Is Without Fear

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake. Tagore

Paying homage to departed persons has been raised to absurd proportions in India.Virtually every day of the year is being celebrated as an anniversary of a past relic. It serves no other purpose except to give a few so called pillars of society to speak for hours in public and have their pictures shown in the media. It is only another example of the diseased Indian mind-set to take the easy path in life.Glorifying individuals is absolutely alien to a progressive and dynamic culture. It only breeds indolence, dishonesty, submissiveness and sticking to out-moded forms which are totally out of sync with the present day reality.
If India is to become a modern, progressive, strong and purposeful nation,it must abandon the personality cult forthwith.
